According to the Taopani Customs Point, the Chinese authorities have agreed to release around 800 containers that had been stranded between Khasa of Tibet autonomous region and the Tatopani border in the first phase. Chief of the customs office Lal Banadur Khatri informed that 15 containers will enter Nepal on a daily basis. Some Nepalis and Indian citizens are involved in smuggling of gold from Khasa market of China and take it across the border into Bihar via Nepal. In the last one month, the customs and state police have seized 2.5 kg smuggled gold worth Rs 75 lakh and arrested four smugglers at Motihari and near Raxaul. You need to get registered at commissioner's office at Khasa village some 19 km before wagha border and the timings are 9 AM to 1 PM. they will issue a pass and your name with other details will be sent to the authorities at Wagha.
